"CABIN WITH FIRE RING" panted by Troy Stapek 2019

Am Happy to share with you the step by step of a painting I did last year....painted it with Acrylic and brushes I did not bring the airbrush into this project.  I started with a mockup on the phone and then moved into the painting.  I feel that the mockup helped in may ways, mostly with perspective and getting the feel I wanted to express.   

Started with a sketch done on my Note 8 phone...is was helpfull to get a good feel for the plan before bringing the image to canvas.  I did feel like this was very helpful and will do this again with future projects.  Decided to have the colors more red to blue.  Sun goes down to the right...so wanted to try to capture the light across the painting and then also coming down from the cabin.

Painted with acrylic paints. After a good coat of white I went in and did a general shape and shadows...getting a feel for the coverage of the canvas. 

Added details in the rock work, building up the perspective, the distance.

At this point felt I needed to add yellow, and as that happened the yellow needed to flow down on to the rocks of the patio.

Adding the chairs, table, fire pit started to pull the painting together.

Working through the details, shadows and highlights working out a feeling that draws you to the cabin.  All done with brush.  Painted on a table not an easel...feel would be better to paint on an easel.  The angle messes with your perspective.  Feel that I would bring in the airbrush for soft highlights then go back with a brush to finish it up if I where to do this project again.
